LPNs are trained in providing basic wound care, cleaning wounds, and changing dressings to promote healing and prevent infection.
LPNs can take and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and respiratory rate to track the client’s health status.
LPNs can help with personal care tasks like bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
LPNs maintain accurate and detailed records of the care provided, observations, medications administered, and any changes in the client’s condition.
In some states and settings, LPNs may be authorized to administer and monitor IV therapy.
LPNs work under the direction of RNs and physicians, assisting in implementing care plans and reporting any changes in the client’s condition.
LPNs provide clients and their families with information on medications, treatments, self-care techniques, and managing chronic conditions.
LPNs observe and report any changes or concerns about the client’s health to RNs or physicians.
LPNs can support clients in performing exercises and rehabilitation activities recommended by healthcare professionals.
